This paper tests for the asymmetric price transmission between the imported and wholesale prices of peeled garlic, onion and red pepper, under the assumption that imported and domestically produced products are not homogeneous. Econometric analyses show there is no asymmetric price transmission for onion and red pepper while peeled garlic has a negative asymmetric price transmission. Wholesale prices of onion and red pepper are mainly formed in an auction market and the market participants in the wholesale level are likely to be price takers, thus there is little possibility of the existence of asymmetric price transmission for these products. Peeled garlic is relatively hard to be stored thus a decrease in the imported price has a larger impact on the wholesale price than an increase in the imported price.
