This paper investigates impacts of Rice Income Direct Payments including both coupled and decoupled payments on rice productivity and farm productivity. Productivity is estimated by a proxy variable approach which is robust to endogenous input choices. We found an empirical evidence demonstrating that the decoupled payments had significant positive effects on both rice productivity and farm productivity. On the other hand, coupled payments are found to have significant positive effects on rice productivity but negative effects on farm productivity.
