This paper analyzes the chance of success and the type of technology transfer from agricultural R&D projects to producers in Korea. The achievements of 1,742 projects funded by the Agricultural Research and Development Promotion Center (ARPC) are analyzed. A multinomial logit model and a bivariate probit model are estimated to find out the determinants of the type of technology transfer. It turns out that the latter fits the data better. The characteristics of the researchers, research topics and funds are tested as the potential determinants. It is shown that the researhces implemented by firms or public institutes are more likely to succeed in transferring technology than those implemented by universities. Short-term proejcts are more likely to succeed in transferring technology than long-term projects. The size of research funds affect the possibility of technology transfer positively but the effects are not significant. The variables that determine the chance of success in technology transfer affect the type of transfer as well. A project with a higher chance of technology transfer is likely to be transferred to firms not farms
