The purposes of this study are to analyze the way how farmer organizations in Germany participate in decision-making of agricultural policies and how they influence the decision-making process. In Germany, where corporatism is a dominant mode in the political structure, the German Farmer Association (der Deutsche Bauernverband, DBV) was established as an exclusive representative organization which cooperates with the government in the decision-making process of agricultural policies. Even though this system gives advantages in that it institutionalized cooperative relationships between farmer organizations and the government, it reveals problematic aspects by excessively pursuing its own interest and by being relatively conservative when introducing new policies.
