This paper examines the determinants influencing farmland leasing decisions in Korea, using farm level panel data collected over the period 1998 through 2002. The study employs the random effects Tobit model, which allows for zero observations and farm specific effects in estimation, to empirically determine how much land Korean farmers decide to lease. Estimation results reveal that human capital of operators and farm characteristics play an important role in farmland leasing decisions in Korea.
